Catherine Ashton in Southern Africa

The EU Trade Commissioner travelled to South Africa and Botswana to hold talks with key government leaders with a view to moving forward the bilateral and region-to-region trade relationships. Main goal of the visit was to discuss the Economic Partnership Agreement with Southern African countries.

WTO DISPUTE SETTLEMENT
Overview of on-going dispute settlement cases published

The Commission has published a general overview of active WTO Dispute Settlement Cases involving the European Community as complainant or defendant and of active cases under the Trade Barriers Regulation. Products subject to dispute settlement are, for example, hormone treated beef and car parts.

More effective support for SMEs

The Commission supports Small and Medium Enterprises for them to become more competitive in the global markets. This is why it maintains a free on-line service for market analyses in the form of its "Market Access Database" and an "Intellectual Property Rights SME helpdesk" related to China.
